What is GRiT
GRIT Chess Academy is a learning space for children and young people, from early primary school through to high school, who are curious about chess, enjoy problem-solving, and want to have fun while improving.
In special cases, younger children (including pre-primary) may also be accepted if they show readiness and interest.
The academy uses chess as a tool not only to teach the game itself, but also to support holistic development. Through structured play, guided learning, and reflection, students develop concentration, patience, resilience, and thoughtful decision-making — skills that extend well beyond the chessboard.

Why GRiT was Established
Founded by a dedicated group of parents and passionate chess players, our chess club transcends traditional boundaries to form a vibrant chess community.
United by our children’s love for the game and the incredible opportunities it has provided them, we are driven by a shared vision: Building resilience and unlocking potential through chess.
Our community is committed not only to encouraging participation in chess but also to fostering the development of the game through structured tournaments. These tournaments are designed to cater to the individual goals of each player while simultaneously enhancing the overall quality of chess in Namibia. Through our collective efforts, we aim to nurture a new generation of skilled and confident chess enthusiasts.
